Music and why we bother

"Music is an art form that involves organized and audible sounds and silence. It is usually expressed in terms of pitch (which includes melody and harmony), rhythm (which includes tempo and meter), and the quality of sound"

music is not only something we hear, its something we marvel at. even tone defts, no matter how incapable they are at hearing or picking up tones actually do hear tones. those who don't hear, sign. one thing can be agreed, and its that we can't help but accept the fact that if we do not start appreciating music now, we're bound to be left out.

Music is fast emerging as, if not already the universal language.

LeVasiz's qualification as musicians.

1. Thomas literally started playing bass because we didn't see the need for a violinist
   
2. Shahrul decided to play the guitar because he wasn't any better at drums than Joel was


3. Joel played drums because we thought he sounded horrid when he played bass


4. Leroy decided to sing because he thought it'd dispel the rain (blame him for the floods)


5. Marvin played guitar because, well he didn't look like a pianist, nor was he suited to play brass


6. Nigel decided to be manager because we decided to make him manager


7. The place we jam is jammed alright. you can hardly squeeze anyone else with a 6"3 180kg monster "vinesh" already watering the place


8. the new jamming place is still quite a jam, conveniently located next to the jamban (malay for lavatory)
   
9. some of us have enrolled in music classes, but the furthest we've gotten is a grade 2 in piano, thats like equivalent to an A2 for English (or dare i say A1 in RAB size)


10. none of us do ARTS in school, which means we're more or less not cut out to go into a musically inclined course or take up an arts degree in music


11. our cheapest guitar costs us RM500, and our most expensive deserves a standing Ovation (ok, guitars are not exactly measures of music qualification, but heck)


12. we don't fork out a single cent for practices, and we don't plan to do so to be a successful band (good students get scholarships, we got Big ASS people waiting to notice us)


13. There are Thousands of better musicians out there whom we have great respect for, but there are millions of worser ones as well.


14. Shahrul still can't read Chords, and doesn't know how to hold a C chord


15. Leroy's only claim to fame is that he writes songs too high for him to sing (he can't do falsettos)


16. Marvin can't tune his guitar at the head because his guitar doesn't have a head


17. Thomas can't move on stage because he thinks he's moving when he's not (he provides the cure for Parkinson's disease)

So, it can be said that music isn't exactly our forte, nor can we say we've done enough to prove to the world we're the next gonnabes.

Here's the catch, we've started working backwards, why start from the basics, when we can skip to the hard parts.

we also use tuners to tune our guitars (duh) BOSS PUNYA!

But we still don't know which sides to put the guitar into. Input or Output

So this guitar pro guy named Brian said, "thats an acoustic guitar, there's no input and output. you just twang it and it will work". and we were like "ohhhhh..."

after making two stupid bloopers whom only beginner musicians make and who cheater musicians with good quality printers thrive at, we hopped back at the idea of going back to basics.

we'll write songs with simple chords, easy enough to play along, and ultra readable when we're reading it on paper. basic-basic chords will do, some open strings, maybe play at the 1st or 2nd fret, with only two or three fingers pressing.

it was smooth sailing, to be able to read chords like:

the C chord
and

the D chord

the songs were so easy to play, Shahrul could understand exactly what the chords were the moment we gave him the score.. until....

.......the ... D s u s 2 a d d 1 3 / F # chord

"the what what? de dust 2 add math 13 F###?" .he didn't have the benefit of looking at the picture like you do.

oh well. lesson learnt, learn music from young, don't give up halfway, and erm, aspiring guitaist, chords are actually the most basic thing you should learn.

Here's another post. Apparently, It's another song which is originally written and compose by one of us. The same old story ? No difference,huh?...........You're wrong.This time its written in a different kind of way with a rock-ier kind of music.It's not melancholic like our past 6 or 7 written songs . Well, It may sound a bit melancholy when you first read the title or read the lyrics or whatever shite you did to assume its a melancholic song , but when you lay your ears upon it, you'll change your perspective about it. or maybe not. Well, if i'm gonna put it, I'll say it's a total rock n roll song and it's a rock song with great melody. Or maybe it's just a soft rock song played in a faster beat. Haha...

Here, i am in a whole new year. Year 2007 and this is gonna be my first post of this year . Well, it's another song I guess. It took me quite awhile though to finish this song. I got slagged off mid way in writing it. Well, i got nothing to say about this song besides saying that I wrote this song with a cup of espresso beside me and a paper, a pencil, and my guitar while i was half-awake or half-asleep early in the morning. Anyway, it's a song and it's about moving forward and looking forwards. That's all i can say for now.

Getting High...on Christmas day

So,we had a merry little christmas.
The first question that you guys should be asking yourself is " Where were you while we were getting high ? "
A line made famous by a few great musicians in a song titled 'Champagne supernova'





Feeling High
I'm sure that's how all of you feel right now,eh? i'm sure you do. It doesn't mean high in the sense that you're high on alcohol or any of those drinks, high can have a meaning of happiness/gayness and just pure fun and laughter. Well, what i know is that most of us will feel high whenever we are hanging out with our friends, family, and more friends and sometimes unknown friends. Don't you agree? well the answer you should be answering to this question will be the exact answer you'll be answering when someone ask you whether you're a human being?....


I can't seem to remember who's house was this.It's either marvin's or leroy's. Let the drunkards decide.

As for le'Vasiz and their friends , we celebrated christmas as if the whole world was singing 'Joy To The World' . We ate till we drop or shite or fell sick or till the food were gone . The whole thing was just great. It couldn't have been better.Or maybe it could.....who knows?
And of course , the night ended with what you think we guys might drink or might not drink in a party. Twisted, huh? It was all turkey n' alcohol. Once everyone hit the 'High' note( like a high C in your music theory), a tidal wave, a landslide ,a flood of crazy stuff started coming in. Some guys started crapping about life(like an adult), some started singing(out of key), some even thought he might drift away from his friends when he should be drifting with a car, and some were just trying to take it all in by sitting on the couch like a drunkard drinking strawberry milk and ribena. We even saw a shooting star which we named it a superstar in the sky,right above the moon(after 5 glasses of you know what.) Soon the night took a change from silent night and holy night to a night that's full of shite XP



Let's move on , what i'm trying to say is that levasiz and their friends had a good time and little christmas day was great. Wow...I'm really drifting away out of topic right now.Anyways, guys let's give ourselves a Christmas present by making a demo album after we are done with what we are undone. It'll do great to the music world. By next year, I want to see A Le'Vasiz album as everyones favourite christmas present.What a nice feeling ,right? ...

well, so the lyrics were actually slightly different, we added a few lines to make a bridge and did some modifications here and there.

This song actually prompted many things, among them more tests with other instruments, there's even one without the string muffling accompanied by the violin. and then there's also the one 4 key higher and you get the drift, but in the end this version seemed the most suited.

Lyrics didn't do me any justice at first, it was nearly almost completely revamped when we sat down and edited it, the original lyrics were erm more, Leroy you could say?... :)

Christmas Brings back many happy memories for us all, and for me, singing this song has the same effect as you wanting to have your annual heavy drinking license.
And you know how it is, that no matter how you cheat yourself into believing that you can take in the booze, it gets to you. No matter how much i dwell on the meaning behind the song, it gets to me. to think i've moved on.
so yeah its sappy, yeah its out of season, but it makes you realise in a way what christmas is all about. Hardship, kinship, commemoration, and in a more commercial sense, The Joys of Giving.. (see 1st line of chorus)

Here's my christmas present to you guys, Joel, Thomas, Shahrul and Marv, last christmas who'd have known how far we would have gone.

It's a classic, so, it's only right if I made a tribute to the song by changing some bits of the lyrics. Not. Well, I had nothing better to do, so don't complain.


Anyways, while i was writing the lyrics of the song I was wearing one of these red and white christmas hats. You may think it's ugly but they are actually nice comfy silly hats to wear in this period of the year.Great fun.I wore this to singapore, city square , malls in JB and almost everywhere I go. People must have been thinking I 'm some kind of weird guy ! (laughs) .....Tis the season to be jolly.

Things I wish I wrote

A new segment in this the blog and its titled 'things i wish I wrote' . Well, this is the first out of many songs which I wish I wrote and It's titled "Rock n Roll Star". I wished I could just turn back the time or get myself a Time Machine from einstein or whoever, then I could have gone down In history as the person who wrote this song. This is like the rock anthems of all rock anthems. It's either total arrogance or just pure self-confidence. Whichever It is , nobody cares. D'ya know what I mean ? If you don't, nevermind. Even by analysing the lyrics , there's a line for everybody. I know you guys who are reading are all living in the city and I know for a fact all of you feel like the days are just moving to fast for you.See , I told you people.Just read It and you'll somehow understand what I mean.

Music made by....

So, It's been a long time since I blogged about topics besides new songs and new music production from Le'Vasiz. Since it's the end of the year I'm gonna make a special post today. As i was going through my history of blog posting , I realised that I was missing something. There was something that I've never really emphasised in this blog.
And the thing was our instruments. Currently, nobody knows what type of instruments Le'Vasiz have been using all this while. It's kind of funny though coz I've never gave a shit about the instruments we use.
...............Here it goes...........



The picture you see here is a picture of a guitar owned by our vocalist, leroy but is oftenly used by our lead guitarist , shahrul. It's one of those guitars from the Yamaha Pacifica series. the only difference with leroy's guitar and the one in the picture is the colour of the guitar. Leroy's guitar is in wooden-light brownish colour and black. It's a totally comfortable guitar to use by the way.




Cool, huh? Now this is a Squire M80 and it's used by Marvin. The one Marvin has now is black in colour and comes with a embedded black & white Le'Vasiz sticker behind the neck of the guitar.So, the whole package now is worth a million bucks. It's a totally okay guitar I should say . The price range isn't bad either. It's worth more than your house. NOT.




Now, here's the guitar that all you geezers should be jealous of. This is a semi-acoustic OVATION guitar. It's joel's and It's gonna burn a hole in your pockets if you ever purchased one . This is one for the music lovers. A strum on it and you're stuck with it forever. The sound you get from it is just out of this world. The guitar that defines Le'Vasiz music.
Funny enough, the Ovation guitar was only used twice for performances by Le'Vasiz but used several times for practices most notably the All That i Know Is That I dont Know sessions.



AHA. A headless bass, one of the things that separates Le'Vasiz from other bands.
The reason It's in the band is because it's just such a unique thing that you rarely see bands use these kind of creations . The headless bass is such a cool toy to have that sometimes you might freeze when u play on it. For example, Thomas, in our first few performances, couldn't move a single muscle while playing with it. He still manage to fork some music out of it though.


Too bad, I got no pictures of the drums Joel has been using but I got a picture that we are tring to get him. It's a TAMA and it's one of those rare sets from the brand. Look below.

Hopefully, there's a 50% discount for the drums in this holiday season.

Well besides that , we experiment our music with the keyboard too but It never makes the cut in our live performances. Again, like most of our instruments it belongs to Joel. Most of the time the keyboard just sits at the corner of the room waiting for someone to play on it.




I think I've explain it all . That's info for you people I guess.


Now, I'll tell you what Le'Vasiz would like to have for Christmas. Hopefully, Santa takes some time of his work and have a Latte while surfing through the net and coincidentally stop by the levasiz blog and see this post.



These guitars will be a great addition into the studios of Le'Vasiz. Fender stratocaster and two Gibson Les Paul.

If only we had a bigger a room , we could probably add this in too. Just for show.

After that , you'll be asking, "what the hell is so good about the hits and all?and what is there in 5000 hits ?". Let me answer your question.

The number of hits you receive are stated in your hit counter. It gives you the amount of people who have visited your blog . So currently , levasiz has 5000 plus.
Hear me out, I know boasting writing about the hits you receive is a stupid thing to blog about coz it just shows your...blablabla but then, 5000 is really a big number, wouldn't you agree? I don't think many bloggers have had this sort of success with their blogs when they started. If you think closely, there aren't many blogs you know that can reach 5000 in just 6 months. So all I can say is cheers....get yourself a nice drink and celebrate with us.

Look! It's december. My gauze, time flies pretty fast these holidays. It's the same throughout the whole year actually. Can't believe it's the last month of the year already. Too bad we can't slow the time down or Stop the clocks.

As the end of the year is nearing, there's this space of 29 days more for writing songs this year. So, here's another written song by Le'Vasiz. This song was written a few minutes hours ago before i posted this post and It's about ...............read the song title.

...too bad for Le' Vasiz as they didn't do well for the AsianBeat band competition. Well, I guess it never came our way . Hopefully, the next time we could make it right.
Heck lar, I'm not gonna sit and moan like mourinho here. This is a happy blog. not.
Anyway, the members of levasiz have forgotten about the shite that happened in the band competition and have begin to look forward. No looking back in anger.

To proof my statement, we have started writing again. New material have been coming in our minds every day. The first of the new material we have wrote is 'The Day I'm Right' by the lead vocalist of Le'Vasiz, Leroy. This is an amazing song by the way with very powerful lyrics.

I'm fading away

So this will be an update on Le'Vasiz and what they had the past week or so , which was Asian Beat and the jamming practices leading to the event. As you guys should know, levasiz didnt make it through the next round of the Asian Beat competition. I honestly don't know what the judges were listening too, besides around 5 bands , the rest of the 35 bands were playing the same type of music which was metal rock. I guess the judges had something in their ear in that same time.

Okay, I think i should stop ranting on the competition/judges and blame it all on ourselves. not. Anyway , it wasn't our best performance but it wasn't our worst either.We just did okay i guess... We're fading away....

The Life Of Le'Vasiz and Their Music

First let me tell you on our song choice and how we manage to choose one in such a short period.
Leading to this competition, the guy that has been writing tunes was Marvin. Since we've started, levasiz have always played an original song for any kind of band competition. This time they chose to pick a song made by marvin . It all started on the first day of jamming, Marvin had 3 songs for show. The members of levasiz had 2 agree on one song to play for Asian Beat.Well, marvin started the set with a few acoustic performances. I believe all the songs were nice okay but one song stands out the most which was 'All that I know Is That I Don't Know' .We still don't know why we chose the song but all that we know is that we don't really know.

Now I 'm gonna write about our daily schedule, through out the whole of last week, all we did were music and nothing else. Right after school, we'll all head back home for a short rest before we drive to joel's house. The first thing we do is always stepping inside the heavenly like jamming room in Joel's house. The aircond , aircond, carpet, camera, instrunents, amps and did i mention air-cond. So, we'll normally start jamming from 3pm right to 7pm with a lot of stuf f in the middle non-stop. We'll end up taking a break at around 5pm without fail at every jamming session. We will normally take a short walk to perling mall and the first shop we'll go there is to Le'Vasiz 's favourite restaurant ,McDonalds. Well , i would like to thank McDonalds in this blog for being kind enough to supply levasiz with meals they can't live with without.
Right after tea, we'll all head to the game arcade centre. There, Shahrul will be playing his 'TimeCrisis'(he's quite good in this) and the rest will run straight to Daytona.
Overhere, Le'vasiz will like to thank all our parents for giving us the freedom to do all this stuff and for being very supportive especially Joel's parents who let us hang out in their house the whole week. Then there's our biggest fans which is our friends....you guys know who you are,don't you?



At the eve of the band competition, Le'Vasiz had another special photoshoot session in.......place not to be named. We needed to submit a picture to submit to the fellas in charge of the AsianBeat competition.

On the competiton day itself, we did a couple of things right before the competition like getting our hair done by Touch Saloon. They became our hairstylist for the day. We had to pay zero bucks for something that cost around RM40. We were living the high life I guess. We would like to thank nigel's father,Mr.Loh for the hair and his saloon as well. They were great. So , anyone who wants to get their hair done , go to Touch Saloon in holiday plaza in the top floor.




Now, I should summarize up the story of LeVasiz in AsianBeat. The whole band competition started out at 2pm(malaysian time meaning 3pm). Luckily for Leroy's lucky hands levasizmanage to draw an early slot. We were the 12th band to perform. We were lucky enough not to take a slot at around 7pm-10 pm. How did Le'Vasiz fare against the other 39 bands in JB ? well, all that i know is that i dont know but I believe we did okay but not our best . We had problems here and there but It wasn't a bad performance. At least our music were different from the other shite metal-influence bands.

The world in our heads

A Le' Vasiz banner....Currently there's only one in this wonderful world!

So, where should I start . The pain?The exams? Te music ? Asian Beat? Let me go back to square one. By today , after three weeks of torture, the members of le'vasiz are done with all their exam papers. We are not sure on how we did but I guess we'll be fine. We'll get what we get I suppose but we still want to pass the exams with flying colours or maybe just walking colours. The whole exam period we were in a scenario where we could answer questions like given f(x) =1-2x and g(x)=4+x, find fg....but we couldn't answer questions like 2+2=? correctly. Believe it or not, we answered 5 for that question. Therefore, 2+2=5 .
Argh........

From the above paragraph , we can conclude that Le'Vasiz are free to do WHATEVER they want now.

Le'Vasiz will probably be back to the studio/jamming room by next week and do some practices before we head on to AsianBeat band competition. We're all charge up and ready to go. So it's music 24/7 for next week. By the way, we haven't decided yet on which song to sing. If we're gonna do something let me settle the music scoreshit sheet.

Last but not least , I would like to say the property of matter to resist any change in its motion or its state of rest is inertia......oops!! the exams must have really made me sick. I just wanted to say that there's a new le'vasiz sticker. The black one above . The old one was really a hit as the old sticker were past around to places in JB ,KL , schools, playgrounds, whiteboards, tuition advertisements and maybe toilets too. For example, look below ...

Well, let me start the run of post with a new, long-awaited song. Its actually been a long time since Le'Vasiz had wrote something new. So , this is it , a newly written and compose song in 20 minutes.

First, let me explain the story behind the song. Basically, the song was made as I was feeling bored at home waiting for the heavy rain to stop. As I tried to figure out something better than just sleep the whole afternoon which I ended up doing, I grabbed my acoustic guitar and just played around with it. It wasn't long before i manage to find out the music and the lyrics for the song. So , this is it.
Just for the fun of telling you, this song is also inspired by the torture I had during the HORRIBLE 'heaven-like' period of 3 weeks of EXAMS.

Another post from the band that they are, Le'Vasiz. Lately, le'vasiz has been surprisingly quiet in the music scene as they haven't played anything live since....since ......SAB IU day or maybe it was someone's black parade or probably it was the charity event. Argh...I forgot. The reports on le'vasiz has been totally clean too, there 's no drinking problems, burst ups , drug problems or even twats with photographers. So basically , Le' Vasiz has a clean image.

Forget about the written stuff above. This post was actually made to inform you guys/people/fans/friends/enemies/rivals/girls/alcoholics , that Le'Vasiz has entered themselves in the year's biggest festival.....Glastonbury festival. Oh my gauze !!

Right, I should stop with the shite and go straight to the point. Le' vasiz are joining the ASIAN BEAT band competition brought to you by Yamaha. First, let me explain to you what this competition is all about. Like what it says in the advertisement , the best music in Asia starts here....In this competition , you are able to compete with the best in Asia from countries like China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Indonesia and talentless Singapore(Sorry mates but honestly I can hear croaks singing everywhere I go in Singapore). Well Le'Vasiz will get the chance to go toe to toe with bands around Asia if only they win the National Final in Kuala Lumpur, and before that they must first win the regional final in Landmark,Johor bahru.
So right after Le'Vasiz are done with our torturing exams, they'll hit the jamming room and see what sort of melodious, loveable , non-shite, listenable tune they can cook up with. I'm sure will get our music heads together and work something out. Now I should tell you about the info on the competition in Johor Bahru so that you can come and support us:

By now, you'd probably be thinking that Le'Vasiz had made a big blooper or mistake while putting the picture in this blog and we suffered from a rush of blood to the head. The picture and the deciphering above only leads us to one point that is , Le' Vasiz are a band of musicians who are full of codes and puzzles. Many of you would realise this if you had been visiting this blog frequently. There are many mysteries under the sleeves of Le'Vasiz. For example, do you guys remember the 'Glujen' word . How many of you knew what glujen meant ? I doubt u had any idea of what it is. I'm sure you couldn't even guess the place where we took the picture . Let me bring you to another topic, How about PAIN ? Have you guys guess what is PAIN? It's rather confusing isn't it ?....aha,you people would also be asking questions about amoretisation. For example, shouldn't amoretisation be spelt 'amortisation' ? and what's the meaning of amoretisation? Too bad we're not gonna tell you . Well, the biggest puzzle of all would be Le' Vasiz itself. Since the introduction of Le'Vasiz to the music scene, people have been questioning about the meaning of the name "le'vasiz" and how did we get that name. Till today, the puzzle is still left unsolved.Even The Scientist couldn't figure it out. So, you guys should just keep on guessing until we reveal out the answers to you on one fine day.
Well somethings are better left untold. Maybe,you may have heard the truth but please DONT BELIEVE THE TRUTH.

All we can say is Le' Vasiz is a name that's a real mystery and only the band members of Le'Vasiz could have thought of such a weird name.

A really dry week!

For the past week or two, Le' Vasiz has been suffering from a really bad spell. A spell that they had to face trouble and humbleness. Their world turned upside down. Before you go on , you should be enlighten that 4/5 of the members of Le' Vasiz members are living their lives in perling. For the past week or so , there has been a cut of water(H20) and also electricity in the 'famous' Taman perling(pingler) . Both cuts of H20 and electricity happened at different periods . For around 48 hours last week , there was not a single drop of water supplied to the homes of the Le' Vasiz. This means that there was no H20 which has a molar mass of 18,no 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom, and no solvent of life....Gauze....Water is such an important factor to us because 70% of our body content is liquid and water is also used in making our favourite drink,coffee. As there was no water, we were dry and got dehydrated. Note : facts about water are taken from 'The Scientist'


To add insult to "dehydration", Le'Vasiz had to suffer from electricty cuts which lasted for 1440 minutes or should I make it less complicated,86400 seconds of no electic current. This means no air-conds(we couldn't playcold), no fans(meaning kipas and not you guys reading this post) and worst of all no lights. Lights are such an important factor to this band because according to the coolest band in the world, '.....lights will guide you home and ignite your bones....'(Fix You) . So, all the lights that light our way were blinding, we needed a wonderwall badly . Without the air-cooling apliances, Le' Vasiz were left to be feeling Hot...Hot...Hot!! or should I just say heaty. Well, we couldn't actually add heat into what is already hot, could we ?....


The effects from these unfortunate events were massive, members of Le'Vasiz were getting sick/ill/high/sleepy and also passing their exams in non-flying colours. We were mad fer it and we needed someone to free us from pain. There's also a suspicion that these unfortunate events happened because of the curse of Friday the 13th or maybe it's just that PERLING had one of their shite weeks. On that day ,they probably woke up on the wrong side of the bed just because god failed to put a smile upon their faces. So sad. All we know is that we don't know. Well, not to worry as Le'Vasiz will continue to do what they do and not slide away from what they call music.

As you all know, the jamming place for Le'Vasiz has always been in joel's house, his bedroom. Joel's room is probably complete with almost everything you need for a jamming session. There's a drum set, two electric guitars, one semi-acoustic guitar, one bass, a keyboard, a mic, one expensive effects and multiple amps. Heck...there's even a tambourine and a violin in his room. This room is so memmorable 'cause It is where Le'Vasiz played together for the first time....But the last time Le'vasiz did some jamming, It was at someone's house(Jogin). During that spell, Joel's room was under some renovation . After adding some sugar & spice and everything nice ,BAMM!!......a new room is formed . The room is new but it still needs a lot of cleaning up to do............Look below

Gauze....It has been such a long long time since Le' Vasiz updated their blog. We've been busy with a lot of stuff lately. Well, we are still students and nobody said it was easy being a student/Musician/blogger at the same time.
This is another song that we wrote and it's titled 'Bring It back'.This is probably one of our last written songs before we take a long brake from music to focus on our final exams coming in october.

Have you ever felt LOST ?
I'm sure everyone reading this had their moments...of being lost.
Note:this post has nothing to do with the tv series 'lost'.

The dry spell ends here...........finally
Le'Vasiz once again pulled their hearts together and manage to write another song.
This is another unproduce song that might be in our upcoming debut album in the first quarter of next year.

indeed, there have been much to do of late, both in the band and out of it, so bear with us for at least another month.

perhaps there just isn't enough emotion. perhaps due to the lack of pain.
