Band Moments

Here's one..

But First , let me thank everybody for making this year's FOA a success.

Congrats to Nigel, Simran, LeVasiz, The Foa crew and the rest of LDDS for making it a huge success. Maybe not so huge but it was way better than what we expected, yeah ?

" Hey, they were no fights ! Good. " - Vice president.

" I'm so relieve....I lost my appetite to eat " - President.

Even the stalls were such heavens. The dogs ran out fast and furious. Some were hot and some were not. But thank gauze for wonderland/figland who supplied the buns that helped stopped the sun.

Thanks to other schools too who wasted their sleeping time who came to perform and deform in the spastic hall. Even the lalas contributed to the event...lolx..lolx

Okay, after all of 'em, kata-kata aluan above,

I shall continue with Le Vasiz's band moment of the year this year.

Yeah. We had our last performance during FOA but that's not it. There's another story behind the morning glory.

Somehow, leading to this anticipated finale, a plot came around . Apparently , some drama had surface upon the crests of waves.

One or two weeks before FOA, 3/5 of LeVasiz had been trying to get on hold of the whole band in trying to actually end things with a bang..Boom......

But plans had to come to a halt as our drummer(the best drummer in JB) wasn't to keen on things and decided to ignore this matter.

He was into FOA but he wasn't into drumming for LeVasiz anymore. So, much persuasion was done into getting our drummer boy to perform one last time for FOA. Even band manager and vice president tried to do their thing , vinesh too(he did his aygeeeewye stuff) but we still failed. His reluctance of not performing was like a final decision, no turning back kind of thing. Well , no thanks to Thomas who played the part of the darkside, always running away from things .

So after all tries and alternatives in persuading joel, like the daytona and the driving issue, we still couldn't get the head nod , thumbs up, or an ' okayla' from the retainerteeth of joel.

As a result , 3/5 of Le Vasiz opt for an acoustic performance instead. Leroy, Marvin and Shahrul were left with vocals , guitars but no drums. No drums !!! For the first time , we might find ourselves playing percussion-less

*Leading to FOA day-we got through auditions.

On FOA day, Joel was still not in the mood for drums. Even though after sound-checking, he played a beat or two , he still wasn''t quite there yet. It was an acoustic performance of "all i know is that I don't know' and 'The Day I'm Right' after all. No fairy tale....yet.

9.00 a.m. FOA starts. Performances came in thick and fast. Tribulation and Mary Got Shot had the time of their lives. The SDJ band were totally dreadful, horrendous ! The vocalist should have enrolled himself for vocal lessons or maybe, he could have dug his ear before performing. The dances were sort of mediocre - none of them had the 'wow' factor, instead, they showed their 'boo...boo' factor. The sketches were all worth the watch , especially EC's version of the real Potter story and the junior's sketch on wooing girls. SIGS' sketch ended winning the whole thing undeservedly, it wasn't that bad nor was it good. Pretty monotonous. The real deal performance that came before the break was actually by they're lead vocalist himself, Leroy who sang a duet with sara(convent) . erm...the other solos and bands were great too especially, the corrs(all sibling band). The crowd came in and out and we ended having 400 plus people in the school hall at the end of the day.

After the break, and two other performances after that, comes the long farewell by the band that had participated in the last two FOAs. This was gonna be our last and finally, complete a hat-trick of performances in FOA . It was just sad thinking hours before the show that drums could not come with us. But the acoustic must go on. And so, we started to end what we started. The last hurrah in FOA.

To our first in our song setlist, we played "All i know is that i don't know "...a rather twisted title that had a bit of cynism in it but it wasn't. Even the emcee had thought the titles were confusing.
Before we started , like the usual shit we do, we'll stare at the audience and in a way, stamp our ground before we introduce ourselves. We started the song with strums from Marvin, complimented by the crusading leads by shahrul , followed by the voice of Levasiz, Leroy. What was missing ? It was the heartbeat of the band...the jeng..doom doop...bang...chip...da...da..bang.

Past the verse 1, skip the pre-chorus, sailed past the 1st chorus , when suddenly everybody started cheering, it wasn't because of Leroy's last chorus line ' ..all you know is that you really don't know...' , not because Shahrul had a massive rift or anything , not because Marvin said something funny enough to tickle your bones, but it was........it was........
kaboom......*out of nowhere , the dry ice effect appeared.........
It was a bird , no, it was an aeroplane..no.....it was...

Joelman; a hero bigger than the likes of any superman , batman , blackman and other heroesyou know about. It was the drummer boy...The Return Of the Jedi Joel.
As the early trio look back , they saw a bright shining light that was rather blinding similar to the ones you would expect to see coming out of a patronus charm. Expecto patronum. Only ours was, a tall , lanky guy who owned drumsticks and was a master in it, drum whacking . A majestic moment that had everyone bengang, lag , shocked , gobsmacked, awestruck and other words synonymous to this. It brought tears to the band manager, made everyone clap and slap and had fans peeing their pants. Strikethrough the line before this sentence . Move on.

The band were soon raged with harmony once again and continued the rest of the song followed by the second, "The Day i'm Right " as a quartet. We ended the whole performance exactly the way we wanted. It would have been great if we had the famous five. Thomas could have help in making that five. Well ,to comment on our performance, It wasn't our best, It was a bit messy though, but heckla...who cares !! As long as the drums were there.

Right after Leroy uttered this words,
I'll try....
'til the day i'm right....

It was all cheers as we bid farewell to FOA for the last time.

Behind the scenes, there were questions asked on why Joel had made a u-turn what really ignited him to play for one last time.

To tell you a secret, it was all down to band manager , Nigel, who manage to quote one of the most uplifting lines from the funniest movie of all time, Simpsons The Movie.

Nigel approached to Joel and said,
" Look into your heart and you'll find your answer in it..."

Joel did that literally, grab his sticks and before you know it , he was up there on stage, getting high, and doing things he'd been doing for the past 3 years in Levasiz.
The whole thing was dropdead touching if you were in the band , close to the band. A hero's salute is what Joel actually deserved. Most people would have just said " Fug the 3 lads on stage , me not helping 'em " but in Joel's case, he said " Oh..gee, I shall just drum. It's the last anyways. Shall be daytona-ing later. "

End Of Story.

Here's a video of 'Cold May' . The last song we experimented before FOA.

FOA videos would be here faster than you'll know the true meaning of 'Amoretisation'. A hat-trick after all.
